BloodAnalysis
Blood analysis with fiber optic assemblies
SEDI-ATI designs customer-specific fiber assembly solutions for blood analysis applications using fluorescence spectroscopy.
MajorConstraints
- Optical fibers must be coherently mapped with high accuracy and uniformity,
- The solution must be compatible with broad spectral range spectrometers.
TheChallenge
Medical instrumentation requiring high reliability with a large number of channels. Any error of mapping is not allowed!
Using fiber optics for blood test analysis
Blood tests can help detect potential health disorders and diagnose diseases.
Fiber optics are ideal to perform fluorescence spectroscopy analysis. They allow to illuminate a sample of blood at a defined wavelength, and to collect the fluorescence emitted as a reaction to the excitation caused by the incoming light. The emitted fluorescence is relevant of the composition of the target, which allows to identify the nature of the target.
Core diameters ranging from 50 µm to 1000 µm
In the case of a spectrometric analysis, all the fibers are arranged in a coherent and linear pattern to be aligned with the spectrophotometer entrance slit.
Such arrangements can include fibers with core diameters ranging from 50 µm to 1000 µm and lengths up to 20 m.
SEDI-ATI’s octopuses assemblies
SEDI-ATI has been working in this field for decades. We supply optical fiber assemblies to customer specifications for major names in the industry.
These fiber optic assemblies can be octopuses consisting of a coherent or non-coherent arrangement of several fibers arranged in a linear, circular or matrix fashion at one end of the octopus, and a burst of several individual fibers at the other end. As many samples can be tested simultaneously as there are channels available on the octopus.
